The Stone: Blue Ice Glacierite and What Makes It Extraordinary
Blue Ice Glacierite is one of the newer discoveries in the world of gemstones — a material so recently identified that many jewellers have never worked with it. It belongs to the Beta-Aluminate family of hard ceramics and shares its chemical family with sapphire — both are aluminium oxides, which gives glacierite its exceptional hardness and durability.
Its vivid blue colouration comes from trace elements of cobalt and vanadium within the stone — the same elements responsible for the blue in some of the world’s finest sapphires. The result is a blue of remarkable depth and saturation that fades naturally toward white at the centre of each stone, creating the layered, ombre effect that gives Blue Ice Glacierite its name and its unmistakable character.
No two stones are identical. The pattern of blue and white is formed naturally within the stone’s layered crystal structure — each one a unique geological event, never to be repeated.

The stone is held in a clean mirrored sterling silver 925 frame — a setting chosen to let the ombre pattern of the glacierite carry every moment of visual interest without competition.
